Cast Nylon CNC Machining Services

Precision CNC machining of cast nylon (PA6G) parts for industrial equipment, automation, and high-performance applications. PlasticCNCPro turns your drawings and 3D models into reliable custom nylon components—from prototypes to repeat production—backed by engineering-oriented communication and export-ready service.

Why Cast Nylon (PA6G)

Cast nylon (often called Nylon 6G, PA6G, or “oil-filled/filled cast nylon” by grade) is produced via in-situ polymerization, enabling large near-net shapes (sheets, rods, tubes) with:

  • High compressive strength and wear resistance
  • Lower internal stress and improved dimensional stability vs. extruded nylon 6
  • Good sliding performance, low friction, and excellent machinability
  • Availability in specialty grades (MoS2, oil-filled, heat-stabilized, antistatic)
  • Useful continuous service temperature typically up to ~100–120°C (grade-dependent)

Typical applications: bushings, bearings, gears, wear pads, rollers, pulleys/sheaves, guides, sealing and insulating components where good strength-to-weight, abrasion resistance, and self-lubrication are required.

What We Offer

  • CNC milling, turning, drilling, tapping, threading, and slotting for cast nylon parts
  • Prototype, low-volume, and repeat production with consistent quality
  • Engineering support on material grade, tolerances, and manufacturability
  • Flexible inspection, documentation, packaging, and international shipping

Cast Nylon Grades We Machine

Grade (PA6G) Key Attributes Typical Color
Natural (unfilled) General purpose, good strength & wear Natural / Off-white
MoS2-filled Improved wear resistance & lower friction Grey / Black
Oil-filled (Oilon) Enhanced self-lubrication & PV performance Green
Heat-stabilized Better thermal aging resistance Varies
Glass / mineral filled Increased stiffness (reduced ductility) Varies
Antistatic / Conductive ESD control or conductivity as required Black

Not sure which grade is right? Our team will recommend options based on load, speed, temperature, humidity, and chemical environment.

Typical Cast Nylon Parts We Produce

  • Bushings, sleeves, bearing cages, thrust washers
  • Gears, sprockets, pinions, racks
  • Rollers, guide wheels, idlers, pulleys/sheaves
  • Wear strips, chain guides, slide pads, glide plates
  • Spacers, insulators, structural blocks and plates
  • Custom jigs, fixtures, nozzles, manifolds (application-dependent)

Our Cast Nylon CNC Capabilities

  • CNC turning: Precision OD/ID features, grooves, press-fits, and bearing seats
  • CNC milling: Complex pockets, profiles, gear forms, and 3D surfaces
  • Drilling/tapping: Fine threads, deep holes, and tight positional tolerances
  • Secondary operations: Deburring, chamfering, countersinking, engraving/marking, insert installation
  • Finishing & inspection: Burr control, dimensional checks, QA documentation

Note: Plastic machining performance and achievable tolerances are part- and grade-specific. We validate all tolerances during DFM review and quotation.

Design & Tolerance Guidance for Cast Nylon

Cast nylon machines well but is viscoelastic and absorbs moisture. To achieve stable accuracy and performance:

Tolerances

Typical machined tolerances of ±0.05–0.10 mm for small features; ±0.10–0.20 mm for larger parts. Tighter limits possible depending on geometry, grade, and conditioning.

Geometry Tips

Use generous internal radii, avoid sharp corners. Allow for moisture expansion in fits. Prefer uniform wall sections; add ribs instead of very thick sections.

Surface Finish

Ra 1.6–3.2 µm typical; finer achievable with optimized tooling and feeds.

Threads & Inserts

Cut metric/imperial threads with optimized profiles. Heat-set or press-in inserts available for repeated assembly.

Conditioning & Stability

Nylon absorbs moisture – dimensions change with humidity. Pre-condition to specified RH or ship dry with desiccants. Annealing/stress-relief available for critical parts.

Alternative Materials

If ultra-tight tolerances or minimal moisture effects required, we can propose POM/Acetal, PET, PA12, or PEEK.

Quality & Documentation

  • Dimensional inspection with calibrated gauges and, when required, CMM
  • First Article Inspection (FAI) and PPAP-level documentation upon request
  • Material certifications and compliance (RoHS/REACH) when available
  • Lot traceability, photos, and inspection reports per order requirements

Packaging & Export

  • Protective packaging to prevent deformation; edge and surface protection
  • Humidity-controlled packaging options (desiccant, barrier bags) for nylon stability
  • Export-ready crates and cartons, labeled per your inventory needs
  • Global shipping from Dongguan, China, with commercial documents prepared for import

FAQs: Cast Nylon CNC Machining

What’s the difference between cast nylon and extruded nylon?
Cast nylon (PA6G) is polymerized in molds, allowing larger, lower-stress billets with improved dimensional stability versus extruded nylon 6. It often machines better and is preferred for larger parts and wear components.
Can you hold tight tolerances on nylon?
Yes, within material limits. Nylon’s moisture sensitivity and creep behavior must be considered. We confirm achievable tolerances after reviewing your drawing, part size, and conditioning requirements.
Do you offer oil-filled or MoS2-filled grades?
Yes, we commonly machine natural, MoS2-filled, and oil-filled PA6G, as well as other specialty grades on request.
Do you install threaded inserts?
We can install heat-set or press-in inserts and provide thread-locking or assembly per your spec.
What file formats do you accept?
2D: PDF/DWG/DXF; 3D: STEP/IGES/Parasolid and others. Include tolerances, grade, and inspection needs for faster quoting.
Do you provide prototypes before production?
Yes. We support one-off to small batches for testing and validation, then repeat manufacturing when ready.
