Specialized in Plastic CNC Machining

PlasticCNCPro is a precision CNC machining partner based in Dongguan, China focused exclusively on plastic and engineering polymer components. We help global B2B buyers turn drawings and 3D models into reliable machined parts made from Delrin® (acetal/POM), from fast prototypes to repeat production.

Our team understands how Delrin behaves under machining, how to control tolerances with plastics, and how to choose the right grade for wear, friction, chemical, and dimensional-stability requirements. If you need consistent Delrin parts, clear communication, and export-ready packaging, we’re ready to support your project.

What Is Delrin® (Acetal/POM) and Why Use It

Delrin® is an acetal homopolymer (POM) known for high strength, stiffness, excellent dimensional stability, low friction, and great machinability. It resists fuels, oils, and many solvents, making it ideal for precision components.

Key Advantages

  • High strength and stiffness
  • Low friction, excellent wear
  • Low moisture absorption
  • Excellent machinability
  • Good chemical resistance

Common Limitations

  • Not for strong acids/alkalis
  • Max continuous use ~85–100°C
  • Can creep under long-term load
  • Not transparent; limited colors

General Wear & Corrosion Parts

Where low friction and dimensional stability are critical

Delrin® Grades We Support

  • Delrin® acetal homopolymers (various viscosity and strength grades)
  • Acetal copolymers (POM-C) for improved hot-water and chemical resistance
  • PTFE-filled acetal (Delrin AF or equivalent) for lower friction and better wear
  • Glass-fiber reinforced and other specialty grades (availability varies)
  • Antistatic/conductive acetal grades for ESD-sensitive environments

Our team can recommend a grade based on strength, wear, friction, chemical exposure, temperature, and cost targets.

Our Delrin® CNC Machining Capabilities

CNC Milling

2.5D and 3D contours, pockets, profiles, complex geometries

CNC Turning

Bushings, rollers, pulleys, spacers, threaded components

Drilling & Tapping

Metric/imperial coarse/fine threads, thread inserts

Slotting & Profiling

Full finish machining and custom surfaces

Typical Tolerance Ranges

  • General features: ±0.05–0.10 mm
  • Tight features: ±0.02–0.05 mm (geometry-dependent)
  • Roundness/concentricity: per drawing and fixture strategy
  • Flatness/perpendicularity: with GD&T and inspection plan

Actual achievable tolerances depend on part size, geometry, fixturing, and inspection method. Confirmed in quotation after DFM review.

Surface Finish and Design Guidelines

Surface Finish & Edge Quality

  • Machined finish: Ra ~1.6–3.2 µm with sharp tools
  • Fine finishing: deburring, edge radiusing, light sanding
  • Laser/engraved markings on request
  • Polishing limited; very glossy finishes not typical

Design Guidelines for Machining

  • Wall thickness: prefer ≥2.5–3.0 mm for structural parts
  • Add generous fillets and radii to reduce stress
  • Prefer coarse threads; consider helical inserts
  • Account for CTE (~110–130 µm/m·°C)
  • Avoid excessive press fits causing creep/stress cracking

We provide DFM feedback to balance performance, cost, and manufacturability.

Delrin® vs. Other Engineering Plastics

Property Delrin (Homopolymer) Nylon UHMW-PE POM-C
Moisture Absorption Low — best dimensional stability High — can swell Very low Low
Stiffness / Dimensional Control Excellent Good (when dry) Lower — harder to hold tight tolerances Very good (slightly lower than homopolymer)
Wear / Friction Excellent low friction Good, but can vary with moisture Excellent for extreme wear Good
Temperature Resistance Up to ~100°C continuous Higher melting point Lower (~80°C) Similar to homopolymer
Chemical Resistance Good (avoid strong acids/alkalis) Moderate Excellent Improved vs homopolymer for hydrolysis

Selection depends on your environment and performance priorities. Contact us for grade recommendations.
